Grow Big While Working from Home

Have you read the E-Myth? Author Michael Gerber talks about the importance of working ON your business not IN your business. The challenge for home based business owners is that we are usually wearing all of the hats of our business. I don't know about you, but if I want to delegate something to someone else my only option is the cat. We are forced to work IN the business on all of the little details that make our business work.

Enter the Virtual Assistant. How many of you have tried the virtual assistant? E-Lance is one of the leaders in the industry. O Desk is another virtual assistant site. How does it work?

You set up an account and specify the project that you need help with and how much you are willing to pay. Say you have a one time project – you need help with making follow up calls or sending out direct mail letters – you write the details of the project and instead of printing and stuffing the envelopes yourself, when you'd rather be out networking or meeting customers – you delegate out the project.

People also hire virtual assistants for on-going work; book keeping, receptionist, cold calling, technical work, you name it.

What could a virtual assistant mean for your business?

- Take the operational, time consuming tasks that don't generate revenue off your desk
- Free up your mind and schedule to connect with customers
- Save money – only hire an assistant when you need one for as long as you need one rather than having an employee
