How To Keep Your Best Employees

How To Keep Your Best Employees

Money can be a good motivator to keep your best subordinates. But it doesn't always do the trick!

Often, some form of attention, recognition and maybe the chance to learn something new will keep your top performers on board even as the job market improves.

With more people quitting their jobs voluntarily than getting laid off, employers can take steps to keep employees from leaving.

So if you're the boss, how do you keep your best assets? Namely… your best employees with you?

Well… start off with building a more personal relationship with them. Make them feel like they're part of a family, an organization that's investing in them.

1. Tell them about the company goals. Let them feel excited about what you hope to accomplish now that the economy is slowly improving.

2. Teach them something new. Employees will feel they are valued each time they learn something new while in the company. This is particularly true when there are no promotions available. You have to continuously make employees feel that they are growing within the company. Without any opportunity for growth, your best guys will always be the first to leave.

3. Recognize those who achieve. Give them the attention they deserve.

4. Allow some flexibility in their work schedules. Trust them that they can do what needs to be done in a timely manner.
