Facebook – a mystery? How hard can it be? You pick a name, upload your photo and start communicating.

Yes, although Facebook now has a population exceeding the US and ranking as the third largest county in the world, to really manage your Facebook account takes a lot of study.

I rely on the Facebook Guidebook that Mashable offers with tons of great articles, but recently received a one page Facebook "cheat sheet" from Andy Wibbel that maps out where everything can be found on Facebook.

The struggle for me is realizing that you go one place on the site to set up applications and friends and some place else to manage, edit or change. It is an exercise in frustration.

Key place to manage? Privacy settings and Notifications.

What challenge do you have with Facebook or is it simple for you? Am I making it harder than it needs to be? All I know is I'm grateful to Andy for the cheat sheet – it helps me see where I need to go in one quick picture.
