Welcome to Home Based Business

I am excited to share my thoughts and insights about running a business out of my son's bedroom. Or the basement or when the weather gets nicer…the screen porch.

Operating a home based business has its benefits:

- I make my own hours
- I can work in my sweats or pjs
- I can multi-task by throwing in a load of laundry, running the forgotten homework up to the middle school
- I can go back to bed for a cat nap after the 6:45am bus leaves
- I can work after the kids go to bed when my creative juices flow the freest

Of course there is the down side:

- The office always beckons
- You never really can leave work at the office
- "They" can always find you
- is there another way to say that work can take over every part of your life?

Certainly running your business from home requires self-motivation; organizational skills, the ability to walk away so you can have family time (or GASP, even a little "me" time) and you have to be good at talking to yourself, because there usually isn't anyone else to talk with. No one to share thoughts about last night's Bachelor episode or what you think of the new SyFy show Caprica.

All that being said – if you are visiting, you probably are running or are thinking about running a business out of your home. So Welcome!

How about we call this our WATER COOLER? I want you to feel like you can come visit, share your thoughts, vent and YES – explain why Jake is keeping Bachelorette Vienna?

A little about me: I spent over 25 years in the corporate world before opening my business AllWrite Ink, a freelance writing business, February 14, 2005. So this is my fifth year in the home based business game. We'll talk about how that has evolved over the years in later posts. Because our businesses evolve, don't they?

I'm also a speaker with a focus on building relationships – customer relationships, employee relationships, relationships with peers and centers of influence.

So that's a little about me. And I hope, over time, you will share a little about you.

I have this dream. You know Dave Barry, right? Well, he has this blog and millions of fans visit; to read this thoughts, take pleasure in his humor and to meet up with friends in the Comments Section. Some times it is more fun to be a fly on the wall of the friends meeting up in his comments section. So that's my dream. That'll we all become friends; meeting up in the comments section to talk about what it is like to operate a home based business.

K?

Until then, I hope you'll come back soon. In the next post I'm going to talk about one of the best places for information on the web. You won't want to miss it!

Take care. And seriously, if you know what's up with the Bachelor – share.
